Great headline! I also like SI's "In Vin Veritas."

Though late for PeanutsThoughts in the previous thread, I would like to point out that I have a Snoopy tattoo.

2 As one with an Underdog tattoo, I'll have your back if anyone mocks you.

Darn, the DT Fantasy Football draft is at the same time as the start of the Dodger game. So if it's slightly quieter in here for the first few innings, you'll know why.

I did see the preview for Privileged last night and it looked like it could be good. Got Vikki from Freaks and Geeks in the lead.

I agree about Fringe, Jon. That was no good.

I liked True Blood, but the re-cast the best character from the pilot I saw.

It's episodic, not a continuous story like Lost.

I would say it is like X-Files mixed with Bones, or what I assume Bones is like.

6 - He's been hot the past eight games and with a lefty on the mound it's worth a shot. If it were against a right hander Loney would be cleanup.

7 - The Fringe pilot was fine, so I wouldn't say "no good." Just didn't knock me out.

4 - I forgot about True Blood. That was fun if a bit inconsistent. I'm still watching that.

30 Parts of a couple ep due to waiting for Chuck. Didn't care for it, thought they used the wrong kind of protagonist for the show. Should have used a young guy or girl who would have the time of his life digging the 70's. Almost make it into a stoner's parody.
2008-09-03 19:21:46
32.   LogikReader
From the SI article:

In any case, he's not a baseball fan particularly and doesn't miss the games. He's sat in the stands just once...

This continues to be one of the stranger things about Vin. I'm sure Vin has a passion for the game, but he doesn't seem to love it enough to want to be a part of it outside his domain of broadcasting. He also disassociates himself from the players, which isn't such a bad thing, but it's fascinating.

Oh for the love of...

Kuroda gives up a first ML hit to the pitcher now? I'm glad I rushed back from the DT Fantasy Football draft in time to see this inning.

I agree that Kuroda is stinking tonight, though. After that you're on your own.

The statistics bear out that observation: Opponents are batting .212 against Kuroda with the bases empty and .300 with runners on base. He either needs to work on his stuff out of the stretch or concentrate less on the surrounding traffic and more on the catcher's mitt. (ESPN- Jerry Crasnick)

Underdog - What are the odds that Webb and Haren don't come into Chavez Ravine to get revenge? I know it is negative but this team has lead me on WAY too many times this year.

87 I understand the pain and wanting to p rotect yourself, believe me, but I still think you're overreacting. Too many people gave up on this team last week. There's a lot of baseball left and they're very streaky.

I also think it'd be silly to give up on THIS game, for that matter.

86 The main assumption that people are making there is that McCourt is too cheap to fire Coletti and eat his contract. Never mind that he did just that with Jim Tracy, DePo, and Grady Little. Ned Coletti isn't making more money than any of those guys.

And Blake DeWitt ties it up.

Can I say he's better than Andy LaRoche yet?

96 While GM Ned Colletti is said to have absorbed the abuse of what colleagues describe as McCourt's "hair trigger'' managing style, sources indicate that McCourt has told friends he is sticking with his GM beyond this season whether or not the Dodgers overcome the first-place Arizona Diamondbacks to steal the winnable West.

129 Its Heyman, who likes to take pot shots at the Dodgers for whatever reason. You'll notice that none of the local papers are reporting that. I'd trust the local guys over a guy like Heyman who a New York writer anyway. And again, his main arguement is that McCourts too cheap to fire Coletti when he did it with DePo(when he had 3 years on his contract when he was fired!?), Jim Tracy, and Grady Little.

History was made at Tropicana Field on Wednesday night, when instant replay was used for the first time in Major League history. The play in question was a home run hit by Alex Rodriguez in the ninth inning of the Rays-Yankees contest.

Whoever got Rays-Yankees put a star next to your name.
