Vin Scully is the subject of a Sports Illustrated profile this week by Richard Hoffer.

Since the Manny trade:

Manny: .414/.500/.748/1.248
Though late for PeanutsThoughts in the previous thread, I would like to point out that I have a Snoopy tattoo.
Darn, the DT Fantasy Football draft is at the same time as the start of the Dodger game. So if it's slightly quieter in here for the first few innings, you'll know why.
I agree about Fringe, Jon. That was no good.
I liked True Blood, but the re-cast the best character from the pilot I saw.
Sweet, I got third pick.
It's episodic, not a continuous story like Lost.
I would say it is like X-Files mixed with Bones, or what I assume Bones is like.
4 - I forgot about True Blood. That was fun if a bit inconsistent. I'm still watching that.
Vin is a genius and my all time fav.
Rather than rue the day that he no longer mans the mike -
instead I savor every opportunity that I have to listen to him perform.
That's just the way I roll ...
Two in fact!
Thanks
I have not seen it yet, but my friend loves the original British version. You should maybe try to get a hold of that.
Er, #8.
Ah well. 8's usually my lucky number. But not in fantasy drafting.
You'll be taking Darren McFadden first I assume? ;-)
4 Ooo, Joanna Garcia? Nice. I may have to check that one out. Or maybe I'll just rewatch my F&G and Undeclared DVDs.
Actually, Javon Walker and then in second hopefully Ashley Lelie will be there.
You'll be pleased to know I'm taking a stand and will not draft LJohnson even if he falls to me in the 1st.
Madden is on the board of old Raider trustees that may take over the team if Al's wife and son do not want it.

What a terrible coach. My AYSO coaches would not stand for that behavior.
Did you, or anyone else for that matter, ever watch Journeyman?
In any case, he's not a baseball fan particularly and doesn't miss the games. He's sat in the stands just once...
This continues to be one of the stranger things about Vin. I'm sure Vin has a passion for the game, but he doesn't seem to love it enough to want to be a part of it outside his domain of broadcasting. He also disassociates himself from the players, which isn't such a bad thing, but it's fascinating.
Moon Bloodgood is also painfully beautiful.
And are you sure McFadden will be the full-time starter?
You spelled syllables like Rick Monday would pronounce it, if he understood the concept of syllables.
for I was looking to get rich
I had to scratch that itch
For I was in the ditch
cause in the clutch I'd twitch
But soon I'd find my nitch
I pitch came and I swing
thinking I'm the king
but in reaching for the ring
'twas bitter, it did sting
I guess it's just my way
no runs for us today
six-four-three, another double play
Now all bets are off.
Kuroda gives up a first ML hit to the pitcher now? I'm glad I rushed back from the DT Fantasy Football draft in time to see this inning.
I agree that Kuroda is stinking tonight, though. After that you're on your own.
I hate that.
I also think it'd be silly to give up on THIS game, for that matter.
And Blake DeWitt ties it up.
Can I say he's better than Andy LaRoche yet?
Ahem.
4-3
I knew this Padres pitcher was living in a tree, as they say. As Vin said, one 3 ball count after another and eventually he's gonna get hurt.
Oh, it doesn't work that way? Drat.
Nice hustle, Dre.

And the pitcher who should be a Mad Men character is now warming up in the 'pen, Dirk Hayhurst.
I guess to scout the future Trojans.
Tonight the answer is YES!
Los Angeles: 9 IBB 113 AB
MANNY RAMIREZ
Whoever got Rays-Yankees put a star next to your name.

Sigh....

"
Is sucking" a specific enough injury?
Depends, are you referring to a specific part of the body?

I hope Kuroda is on a very short leash tonight, with all the pitchers in the pen.
And the D's
You mean something that says "leather daddy?"
I'm picturing the guy wheeling an oxygen tank out there.
Mike Marshall=General Soreness
Nomar=General Hospital
And as far as the pitching goes, for a "Bad Hiroki" outing, this wasn't that bad.
Is he on notice? Should he change his doorlocks? What? Surely this won't pass.
work his way back in
I echo your thoughts. Torre's attachment to Proctor seems irrational.
Knoxville has about 40,000 more people than Pasadena.
But Pasadena has never hosted a World's Fair. And it doesn't have a Sunsphere.
And I didn't know Cory Wade was in the organization until he got called up. But I'm not a prospect expert.
Or not.
Huh, an Elbert at bat! That'll be a rare occurrence. Until next season, when he's a starter.
A double switch would have required Berroa or DeWitt to be taken out and the replacements for those guys are ... ????
I saw him pitch three shutout innings in Jacksonville in April and didn't even recognize him when he was called up.
Hu?
The Mets making the playoffs will make me a very sad person. I don't want to see Fernando Tatis in the postseason.
yeah that's me.
Fight On!
That's not ironic.
It's just weird.
Sigh.
I think they'd do well against the '27 Yankees today. Grab a shovel.
Tonight's first place winner in correct subject-verb agreement!
That would be so easy; they all got to be dead by now.
And come to think of it, if you needed to win a game would your most reliable pitchers be Procter, and Elbert?
I think you need Yoda.
As I write that Thank You Loney...This is about the Dodgers and not you 235.
wow, the Dodgers seem to be hitting a lot of home runs lately. that's kind of different. and, you know, nice.
You've made a huge mistake.
If not, it's kind of.. un-genius.
One more run guys and then we can all breathe easier! Well, almost all of us.
One of the reasons this site has become such an enjoyable community for some Dodger fans is the respect for guidelines set up by the guy who runs it.
We like the tone that has been set and fully intend to keep it that way. If it's not for you, feel free to move on. It is a free country and you have the freedom to express yourself... but people who run websites have the right to moderate them.
Go Blue!
I'm thinking of the Wade Boggs visits Cheers episode.
I've already forgotten that I've drafted two more RBs than I needed in our fantasy draft.
We also would've accepted "Danica McKellar."
Underdog:running backs
I guess Joe knows this inning's over.
Sigh, and here's Sweeney again.
Okay, it's nailbiting time. Hang on to your hats (or cats, whichever's closer).
Pre-Toaster. Sometime in '04, I think. He started Fire Jim Tracy around that time. He was definitely the forerunner of a desire many of us eventually came to share.
/playing it cool
Lowe, Erickson, and Weaver were the winners.
301 And, nope, sorry, can't.
298 Man, now I feel bad for rejecting you. Well, I'll think of something else. But it probably won't involve Marshawn Lynch. Too bad I didn't draft another Cal player I could trade you.
Oh and... whoo hoo, 5 in a row!
This is the first I've seen of this in quite some time. It's been like since the Mickey Hatcher "Lets go wash the bullpen Nissan" days.
Honestly, when was the last time you seen a Dodger team have this much fun?
If this is because of Manny, then McCourt, load the wagon.....
