Baseball Toaster runs on some experimental software called Fairpole. It's still under development.
For more information, please visit the Fairpole blog, or read the FAQ.
Filling Wilson Betemit's spot on the roster will be outfielder Delwyn Young, who has an on-base percentage of .400 and a slugging percentage of .608 with AAA Las Vegas.
A switch-hitter, Young has a 1.095 OPS against righties and .968 against lefties. He has 44 doubles, five triples and 16 home runs in 398 at-bats. That's some paddlin'.
As of this writing, the Dodgers haven't announced which of their existing 12 active pitchers they will jettison to make room for new acquisition Scott Proctor, who will not report to the team until at least Wednesday.

I've heard he plays the OF now but he use to play 2nd base if I remember correctly.
Yeah, my fingers are crossed for Hernandez over Hull.
I'll take your bet.
Our Mgr and GM value experience over all else, including talent. I'm betting on Houlton or Hull.
vs LHP (batting right) 1.063 OPS
vs RHP (batting left) .947 OPS

It is never ending.
Toy Cannon is not happy. He is happy for D Young but I expect he will just become a Yo Yo, get a few ab's, fail as a pinch hitter and then get sent back down until Sept. We can't go long with Ramon covering all of our infield spots with an infield that consists of Kent/Furcal/Nomar. Oh wait, we have Olmedo to play 3b. How lovely. Problem solved.
They laughing apologized, I just realized something I don't really watch them anymore I just get all my info online.
I'm just glad I don't work at Dodger stadium: I would not be able to keep my mouth shut about things going on in the field.
Moderately interesting, though he's a little flexible with the facts.
Yeah, I don't drive a hard bargain & I'm easy to please. ;o)

Off topic, but do y'all think Flight of the Conchords is too geeky a nickname for my new soccer team?
Like, I mentioned before, every team coveted our young prospects on the farm, for many reasons, young, talented and cheap for years to come. We had no one available in bigs that any team would take in a trade. (Omeldo, R. Martinez, Nomar, LuGo), doubt that they were even mentioned in a trade. Our young players, no longer propects because they've proven they belong up here (Martin, Kemp, Loney, Eithier, Brox, and Bills) were virtually untouchable.
So Wilson, was the only expendable part we can let go of. Shouldn't be too upsetting, because one less person to block LaRoche. We still have Abreu, Hu, D. Young, DeWitt. Plus, Ned was looking for a SP and the price for one was obviously not worth mortgaging our farm for, no key prospects were dealt away.
So, all in all, were down to 57 games left and it will be a 'Vick Brawl' with the rest of the division.

If I had to bet I´d say that Tomko or Hernandez will give up the 756.

(Don't take it too seriously, it's a little harsh on both Betemit and Proctor, but it's actually kind of funny.)
A former Homestead Gray, James Tillman, is at the game at RFK and was just interviewed. He described his best memory of playing in the Negro Leagues: He joined the Grays in NY and they were playing in Yankee Stadium. He hit the ball and started running fast. And the first base coach had to stop him and tell him it was a home run and he should slow down going around the bases.
That would explain my avuncular feelings toward him.
Regarding Delwyn Young: don't his 2007 stats scream PCL inflation? The .046 IsoD and 3:1 K/BB ratio aren't exactly scintillating.
(Shhh: I'm just telling him that so I can inherit part of his librarian fortune)
Hope they use the L.A. broadcast feed...I've really missed Vinny.
30 - Much less geeky than the last softball team I played on, "Oy, I Think I Pulled Something."
46 - I'm going tonight. Weds and Thurs I'll be home.
Move Nomar to 2nd and give LaRoche a look!
Hope tonight goes well....
Peace in your middle crease.
-this line is a DT classic, I loved it.
re: Delwyn Young in Vegas, his numbers would translate (eyeballed from Davenport translations for other hitters in Las Vegas) would be ~.295/.345/.500 at the major league level. This isn't to say that he WILL put up those kind of numbers - simply what his AAA line translates to. His mediocre strike zone control, I would think, along with his inexperience should give him trouble. The good news is that Young's performance makes him interesting and potentially very useful. Keep in mind that Martin's line in AAA before getting recalled was a mediocre .282/.355/.436.
End of thought.
