Jones has been a much better hitter than Clayton Kershaw this year.

I'm just saying.
So, what's the best route? Sunset seems to take forever. Wilshire means going through about 45 stoplights in Beverly Hills (there must be one every 100 feet). I could go south to Olympic or Pico, which is essentially going home, then east. How far east on Wilshire before the ridiculous number of stoplights ends? Fairfax? Further east? I'm not remembering clearly.
I appreciate your suggestions.
After tonight's game, the Dodgers will face 6 righthanders and 2 lefthanders on this homestand and then repeat the same 4 starters in Philadelphia.
So in the next 2 weeks the Dodgers will face 4 lefthanders and 9 righthanders. I am assuming at some point Manny gets a day off but it might not be until maybe one of the games in Philly or DC.

Slowing building up the innings over time, last outing was 5 innings.

Okay, I'll shoot over a quick email to DeJon and let him know.
Delmonico and Nick Buss are mashing with good k/bb rates.
the snakepit reacts.
We'll call you when the time is right.
Good Luck.
If he doesn't, they pull him back and they complete the transaction after the season.
Pierre. With Loney 8th and Ethier on the bench. 'Cause, you know, with Hamels on the hill, PVL is needed here.
(long pause, deep sigh, silent counting to ten before calm response...)
It's like sending the infantry to charge the cavalry. That's what this is. I'm going to back to moving. If nothing else, I've got some renewed energy what this anger being turned in to resolve and all.
I hear that beach is beautiful.
You guys... gosh! :)
No, it didn't take me over a year to realize Pierre sucks.
Did the outfield hitting area just get a little bit larger with Manny in left and Pierre in center?
Here's hoping Kershaw can induce the ground ball tonight along with the strikeouts.
Bet you're right on this. Banking $36,000,000.00 Jonsey can do as he pleases.
Dayton Daily News is also reporting that Owens to Reds. Its pretty much official now.
I'm going to tape some boxes to gentle sound of Black flag now so I'll be busy. Hold hands when you cross the street.
We'd likely hear if either cleared waivers, no?
Hey you are moving to Hermosa, what do need any sympathy for? Beach Vollyball every day, beach, sand, girls, life.........
"Damaged by you! Damaged by me!"
Pre or Post Henry Rollins?
Dusty needs to put him in the outfield and forget about pitching. They have pitching, what they need are outfielders.
So, it doesn't matter if Owings pitched for half a season in Arizona, he can be traded as a PTBNL because he wasn't on the active roster at the time of the trade.
Now, there could still be the problem of Owings not clearing waivers but they can wait until the end of the year before trading him.
Now, I don't know if this means Owings cannot come up to Arizona in September, certainly it would be strange to play for a team that you know you are no longer going to be playing for once the season ends.
And right now, these are revocable waivers. Irrevocable waivers are done usually when you DFA a player.

Seriously, he braided his hair. This is the worst possible outcome on the whole hairgate. Or the best possible outcome. Either one.
Okay, I'm packing... seriously, I'm packing.
Let's see which southpaw comes out on top tonight
Ron Washington decided to throw caution to the wind and go for the jugular. He didn't need any stinking chart to tell him when to go for two.
Manny article from the AP.
He will get a no decision.
No pitcher in B-R's Play Index has ever hit that total and gotten a no decision as a starter.
Zach Greinke in 2005 and Jaime Navarro in 1997 gave up 11 runs in a game and got a no decision.
I'm sorry. I used to live in USC Frat Boy Central, too, once upon a time. That lasted about three months..
This made me laugh for some reason.
You wouldn't laugh if you had one. At least it's not broken. That's one of the bones in your body that medical science can't do too much to heal.
SB, check out Ocean Diner on Aviation.
Well, it's not like they can put it in a cast.
That subject was on the front page of the New York Times today.
I care not for the rumors, but this post is about how Fred Lewis of the SF Giants is a five tool player who can hit .300. Really, is that what Fred Lewis projects to? A poor version of Matt Kemp? Or just Matt Kemp?
But even if Ned put Jones and/or Pierre on irrevocable waivers who in the world would claim them? Nobody wants those contracts.
Ummmmm...no. Lewis is already 27. He isnt in the same league as Matt Kemp right now considering the positions that they play.
Ah, so.
Comment obviously for post 98.
And Chase Utley is a superhero.
The "people in the know" attribute the records to:
1) the suits
2) the depth of the pool, which is apparently the deepest ever used in the Olympics
3) companies offering up lots of $$$$ for swimmers to go faster
There was an explanation why swimmers can compete in multiple events more easily than in track. Michael Phelps can compete in eight events and be world class in all of them.
But in track, a decathlete will likely not be able to compete with a specialist in any of the 10 events except in rare instances.
Try to be a leadoff hitter and work the count before weakly grounding to first.
"Do you have my bank account number?" makes me laugh each time.
Enjoy him while he lasts, kids!
Good hit, too, by Casey B.
If he hits after 5th though he gets grumpier.
Looks no different to me.
1) Carlos Lee
2) Evan Longora
3) Tim Lincecum
O God! Why hast thou forsaken me?
What team is Longora with?
Maybe not, but I do see the difference between adequate and ridiculously small sample sizes.
He's been lousy all year, and people have been calling for him to move down all year. Now he has a couple decent games in a row and suddenly he should be forgiven?
I'm saying we should 'forgive' him as long as he's hitting. If he goes cold, move him down! But until then, why not enjoy this without the usual cavalcade of griping, the way you would a stretch of breezy 80 degree days in the dead of August?
4-2 AZ at Coors.
And not be forgiven.
Brad Ausmus needs to die a slow, painful death and I'm very, very close to some rules violations...
I must say, the energy I've got from Pierre leading off and Lincecum getting hurt has really put some energy into my packing. More bad news, please...
Woah now. What did Ausmus do?
Tim Lincecum left his Tuesday night start after taking a line drive off his right knee.
Lincecum tried to avoid the liner off the bat of Brad Ausmus, but it hit him in the side of the knee and he fell to the ground. He limped off the field before being replaced by Keiichi Yabu.
Boston 19, Texas 17 .... Rangers outhit Sox 20-17.
Actually, Rollins is an excellent 82.5% career in SB. Beltran is 87.8% career (91% the last 6 years).
Last season they were an otherworldly 87.9%, combined with having the 2nd most SB in the league.
That was either a misplaced IM/email, or one of the greatest insults ever. :)
Or how about when underdog cut and pasted a whole blog chat a comment window? Well, I guess that was more on topic. It was just really idiotic.
That is a little inconsistent, Kershaw wasn't getting that inside fastball called earlier. But he's definitely settled down.
Too bad Hamels is even more settled down.
In other news, Michael Phelps just did to the rest of these swimmers what the 2001 Mariners did to the AL that year...
Martin looks like he's really tired. Give him a real day off - no third base.
Why did I think that Torre would take better care of him?
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0357557/
Anyway, the Dodgers need to find a way to get Cole out of there, work the pitch count or something, or they have no shot.
Is it from that same Chinese place we ordered from...?
No, different place. I've moved on.
Would you like to be alone with that chow mein for a minute?
I even know his real name.
Wow...the colors. When did the Dodgers start playing against a team of wood fairies?
These are not rhetorical questions, I'm really interested in why there is so much concern (not just with Kershaw, but with pitchers in general) throwing more than 100 pitches in a game.
Exhibit A:

Homer: Your old meat made me sick!
Apu: I am sorry sir. Please accept 5 pounds of frozen shrimp.
Homer: That's not frozen. And it smells funny.
Apu: 10 pounds!
Homer: Woohoo!
(ambulance noises)
(Sorry, Jon. I thought my Veronica Hamel reference should make up for an extra Simpsons reference.)
The chow mein has been finished. It was purchased from a restaurant named, simply, Ho's.
Have you seen the chunky Canadian...?

and I am still catching up on DT but re: seating at Citizens Bank Park, the 300 level is the top of the stadium from right field to around behind first base (301-310), and you can see the game and some pretty spectacular sunsets very well from up there.
The 400s are a little higher up behind home plate (412-434) and the 300s are in front of them, the lower portion of the upper level there, and views are still mighty fine from either. Of course, if it's your first time at CBP, make sure you take advantage of the excellent standing platforms all along the main concourse on the lower level and your seat section might not even matter...hope this helps!
260 - I know the rules of evidence. except the dead man statutes, those always confuse me.
I was going to go there, but I stopped at my brother's house first.
You know, bros before Ho's.
The idea is that after a certain number, your arm is more tired, and more suceptible to injury, or damage that can lead to injury.
TThe general rule is never over 120, and kick the manager at 130. Koufax and Drysdale had games where they threw 150 pitches, but neither was in baseball for an age 33 season. Not really a coincidence.
(Yes, I have.)
4-4.
It was a changeup that Kemp hit.
I really thought Kent got that one. Terrible baserunning by Pierre. He has to be at third on that. Dont know what he was doing as he scores from anywhere if the ball drops.
Are you happy that I'm not going to the picnic?
Not anymore! I was going to hit you up for top secret D4P information!
Yes and Martin is having a long slump now.
How about some real rest.
No Third base
No 7th inning entry.
Just a real day off before/after an off day.
Right now he's not seeing the ball at the plate and not as sharp behind the plate.
Just a slump?
By the way, my prediction of 4-4 was dumb to say the least. For one, the Phillies have 3 runs, not 4. Lets just move along now OK? Sorry for the jinx.
I'm going to set up a website and Paypal account. $20 gets you his name. $40 gets you a police description of his appearance.
AND MANNY IS AWESOME. That pitch looked like it was outside the strike zone too. So good that Manny had to clap for himself.
That's about as hard as Pierre can hit a ball.
Do we get the sketch drawing as well?
No, you have to do it yourself.
I'll end up looking for this guy:

A little more hair than that.
Big credit card bill, huh?
He might get more than that. The two relief signings that came to mind were Chad Bradford (3/$10.5) and Jamie Walker (3/$12).
Jamie Walker has his own dedicated section of fans at Camden Yards. He pays for the tickets to get kids to sit there, but he's the only Oriole who does such a thing.
Very odd.
Very effective with nobody on base
Beimel, bases empty: .321/.367/.357
Beimel with runners on: .264/.372/.292

Tie game!
Oh well, 1 is better than zero. A tie is better than losing. Underdog is master of the obvious.

Brad Ziegler.
.......my bad.
It was worth it.
Why not just make 10 the tiebreaker?
Oakland 2, 150:1s 1
Um...Loney?
But I'd be perfectly happy with it decided in a climatic pommel horse routine.

#7 James Loney - Good on defense?
The longest scoreless inning streak in major league history will not be on the trivia quiz Saturday.
And Andre Ethier is the king of long at bats.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
ANDRE
ADNRE
ANDRE!!!
The anti-Nomar.
Did you script this one for them?
Huzzah!
Nice to see 3.5 use the 5.5. Blue team wins.
Taiwan leads the Netherlands 5-0.
Canada up on China 4-0.
China's caps have a CHN logo.
God bless, Ethier. We win.
Steve Ontiveros is trying to calm down the Chinese relief pitcher.
He needs a lot of that. And he needs to learn to throw the ball over the plate.
It's hard to believe his OBP is only .340ish. You'd think he'd get on more with that approach.

Kuo's country had also just won its first game in Beijing. The two games ended at nearly exactly the same time.
