You cannot walk Barry Larkin, with a .246 batting average, .306 on-base percentage and .379 slugging percentage, leading off a game. You just cannot due it. You have to be able to throw right down the middle. But sure enough, Ishii walked him. Four batters later, it's 2-0 Reds.
