I'm scheduled to be on KCAL Channel 9 ever so briefly tonight after the Dodger game ends, talking about the heaviest issues of our time: the Dodgers and Dodger blogs.

Brad Penny was activated from the disabled list today.

It's great to see Willy Aybar (Wilber) back in the majors and getting a lot of playing time on a contender. I thought that Aybar's career was over after the news came out about his drug and alcohol problems.

By the way, I created the "Just another walk for Aybar...." saying when he was first called up. I believe it was D4P who abbreviated it as "JAWFA".

13 Why is he not? I mean, I don't love the word successful, but he's been decent for a SS, replaced Furcal (injured), Nomar (injured) and Hu (hit way worse than Berroa). Considering he gave up nothing for him, I don't see why it was a bad move. More semantically speaking, considering the dearth of "Ned's successful moves", Berroa definitely counts as one of his successful ones.

What would be the actual odds (chances) of a team losing 8 in a row, then winning 9 of 10 while the team they were chasing lost 9 of 11?

Certainly there have been collapses, like the Mets last year, and I even remember the year the Dodgers picked up 11 games in 14 days versus the Braves in 82 I beleive?

But has such a run ever occurred immediatley following a 8 or more losses in a row skid? And this late in the season no less?

149 Actually I just revisited the show again recently (and once wrote a paper on the movie and the TV show in comparison for a college course), and I feel like the first season or two have not aged that well (although there are some wonderful moments and hilarity ensues) as it tried to be too much like the movie, then found its stride, and then the first couple of years for Mike Farrell, when Frank Burns was still around, are actually my favorites. They were funny, a little more serious, but not maudlin. Then the subsequent years it got worse, and imho jumped the shark when Radar left.

The Captain Tuttle episode in the early years is still my favorite, though.

And those are underdog's MASH thoughts.

Btw, I also noticed that the same Korean American actress who played a character in an early episode, resurfaced as a different character a bit later, and then once again later on. Same for a male actor. It's like there were only three Korean actors they could drum up over the years for some reason.

Honestly, day in day out, I don't think I've ever seen a player on the Dodgers who was a better hitter and that includes Piazza and Green. Like someone said, this is like Nintendo. And it doesn't matter it's a tough HR park, or it's a CY Young candidate pitcher (Webb, not Estes), if he's hitting like this, it's awesome to watch. I'll say it once, and only once, but Thanks Ned.

Is it just me, or is Manny getting more RBI opportunities with the Dodgers than his time with the Red Sox? He already has 38 RBIs with the Dodgers compared with 68 RBIs he had with the Red Sox in 63 less games! That has to help his case for a new contract, that he can and will be your main guy, that boston was limiting his offensive potential somewhat.

Well, I've noticed a few things the last couple nights, but I wasn't taking notes (haven't been a journalist for a while now). The kicker tonight was when Vin re-hashed the quotes from Hurdle saying he hates the Dodgers. Obviously, Vin's setting up the next series, but he's also doing it with the wink and a nod the majority here do. I'm convinced he's among us.

Cory Wade did go down with a tired arm... so I'm sure the Dodgers know he probably isn't capable of being a starter no? that's what I'm thinking.

T.J Simers in Torre's pregame kept baiting him into talking about a potential Cubs/Dodgers NLDS. Torre would not bite. But, aside from that Simers and Torre kind of have a bizarre chemistry.

So, look for that in Simers' column tonight.

Any game where we can use Sweeney as a PH when we're ahead and the bases are empty qualifies as an excellent game. Then I don't feel guilty for wishing he will strike out, causing Joe and Ned to eventually realize that he needs to be DFA'd.

You know what's crazy? Nobody in the NL is playing as good as the Dodgers are right now. And that's all that matters in the playoffs, anyway.

I'd much rather go into the playoffs at ten games over .500 having played .750 ball in September than go in 20 games over having played .300 ball in the home stretch.
