I'm scheduled to be on KCAL Channel 9 ever so briefly tonight after the Dodger game ends, talking about the heaviest issues of our time: the Dodgers and Dodger blogs.
Brad Penny was activated from the disabled list today.

(knocks on wood)
7-2 Mets once upon a time; now a 7-7 tie!
Beimel has a 210 ERA+ That's mind boggling.
By the way, I created the "Just another walk for Aybar...." saying when he was first called up. I believe it was D4P who abbreviated it as "JAWFA".
So it wasn't Martha Quinn?
Hmmmm...I've never seen Martha Quinn and D4P in the same room together.

Mets were leading 11-7, and Guzman hits a 3 run HR! 2nd of the night, and the Mets now lead it 11-10.
This is good momentum to go into the playoffs.
That would really tie the blog together.
And this is all against the Nationals!
It's not about quality. It's about hanging around for a long time.
Jeez, Ethier, who do you think you are, Pierre?
Gary Bennett is out OPS+ing Berroa, this year.
I knew someone was bound to say it.

Most recent predicted paths of the various computer models. This is the best website for Atlantic hurricanes, especially Jeff Masters' blog.
What in blazin' sam hill are you talkin' about, Mista Weisman.
LONEY POWER!
Oh Loney.
Thanks, but don't encourage me, or else I'll be doing it throughout the game.
Loney, uh, hit that ball pretty far.
Even Vasgersian was speechless.
Nice solo shot by Loney.
The last person I recall being filmed typing was Angela Lansbury in her opening credits.
Yes.

Solution!
What would be the actual odds (chances) of a team losing 8 in a row, then winning 9 of 10 while the team they were chasing lost 9 of 11?
Cannell is the gold standard regarding filmed typing. I can here his little theme in my head right now.

Murder She Wrote is in the Hicks/Estes category as well. I'm convinced my mom saw every episode at least thrice.
I think the best you could do would be to run a simulation program to see how often that pattern occurred in something like 1000 seasons.

The A Team
Hardcastle and McCormick
Rockford Files
The Greatest American Hero
In comparison, Johan Santana has given up 42 HR's to left handed batters.
Estes has thrown 1667 innings.
Santana 1512 innings.
Certainly there have been collapses, like the Mets last year, and I even remember the year the Dodgers picked up 11 games in 14 days versus the Braves in 82 I beleive?
But has such a run ever occurred immediatley following a 8 or more losses in a row skid? And this late in the season no less?

I'm walking on air, I never thought I would feel so free,
Flying away on wing and a prayer
Who could it be, believe it or not, it's just me.

You get the Diamond Mind simulator and try it that way.
I bet 9 out of 10 DTers know the answer.
The closest I can remember was the Dodgers in 2006. The Dodgers came out of the ASB 1-13 and stood 7.5 behind SD. Then the Dodgers won 11 straight and 17 of 18 while the Padres went 6-12. The Dodgers gained 11 games over an 18 game stretch.
You figure with his partner's pedigree, he may have pitched instead of his mate.
Awesome.
Even I saw episodes of Cheers and Golden Girls as a kid.
You know, suicide is painless.
Cheers is outstanding. I never really got into MASH but liked what I saw.
Due to unfortunate circumstances, I have in my possession seasons 1 & 2 of GG on DVD.
A lot of it might have to do with the fact that I grew up overseas.
There was also the dueling Manson rumor linked to the older brother on Mr. Belvedere.
Did you get to watch the Elephan Show? Or Eureka's Castle? That's the real question.
I did not know what Mr. Belvedere was till Ned and Stacy.
Roy Halladay took the loss.
The win by the White Sox prevented the Twins from moving into a tie for first.
And what kind of tie?
Flat-footed, of course.
And Ross Ks.
It's up to Ellsbury to end it.
David Ross doing what David Ross does. Striking out.
He has earned my wrath, but I'm feeling pretty charitable at the moment.
Some people would prefer David Ross to Danny Ardoin.
I'm not sure why.
His last name is easier to pronounce.
Is it Ard-Wah, or Ard-wan?
I liked Wayne Rogers but I don't think he was comfortable supporting Alan Alda, I thought the timing was better between Alda and Farrell.
Which doesn't seem to extend to Koyie Hill.
The Captain Tuttle episode in the early years is still my favorite, though.
And those are underdog's MASH thoughts.
Btw, I also noticed that the same Korean American actress who played a character in an early episode, resurfaced as a different character a bit later, and then once again later on. Same for a male actor. It's like there were only three Korean actors they could drum up over the years for some reason.
And that's DeWitt's first walk in the last 7 games, I believe.
Btw, between PetCo being a mausoleum and the Pads' announcers so softspoken, I finally realized it was actually more exciting to watch it on Gameday.
I have noticed rule violations in this thread, but I'm not going back to delete them.
Everybody have fun tonight.
Everybody ...
I did not remember Samuel L. Jackson played Jamal's dad. He's in everything!
I was always partial to Square One TV myself :)

Gameday has really improved. You even get instant highlights now. I was able to replay the Loney HR and Dewitt's double shortly after it happened.
"He is a game changer," Vasgersian says.
Manny and Loney have both really crushed theirs. This is fun!
Question - at what point/production does McCourt essentially have to give Manny what he wants (or at least make the strongest effort possible to resign him)? Is it already at that point?
I think McCourt will keep Manny at all costs.
Tyler Lamb enrolling at Mater Dei.
Why is this!
Or they are suggesting Derek Lowe off himself.
And why is the MASH theme song playing at Petco? Are they're trying to make Lowe hurt himself or something? Or are they just big Hawkeye fans?
But like not for real right? I mean that IS how many homeruns and rbi he has right?
Yet I learn nothing!
His Baseball ref page splits his time with boston and L.A., and gives totals. What's he's doing with L.A. is unreal. He has a 214 OPS+!
If you want to see the Philly Phanatic maimed and killed, this series is for you.
What about if a player, however unlikely, were to break the Bond's single season HR record while switching leagues mid-way. Would that count?
Manny's stats:
With Dodgers: .394/.488/.758, 13 HR, 39 RBI
Season Totals: .324/.423/.590, 33 HR, 106 RBI
Its amazing how Torre already trusts Elbert.
Vin Scully karma train hit him, just like it got Kent.
right on... little 'ol Bluebleeder will tune in.
This was actually an issue when McGwire went from Oakland to St Louis
He would still have the individual MLB record, but not the specific league record, assuming his league totals were short of the record.
McGwire hit 58 HR in 1997, 34 with Oakland and 24 with St. Louis. I believe the record he set was only man to hit 20 HR with two teams in one season, but I could be wrong on that.
24* home runs
David Justice hit 21 HR with Cleveland and 20 with the Yankees in 2000.
There have only been three 40-HR hitters traded mid-season.
Greg Vaughn is the other, in 1996 (31 with Milwaukee, 10 with the Padres).
Actual bullpen. I think they planned to have two bullpens beyond the fence, but there were some miscalculations in the planning so they threw the visitor pen down the RF line.
Not sure why, just yet, but I've got an uneasy feeling in my gut.
One out to go in Boston.
Watching Dodgers on MLB.TV and Sox-Rays on ESPN. Saw Manny strike out. Looked up at the sox game 15 seconds later and wondered why the sox didn;t have any outs if manny struck out.
I need to get out more often
Looks like Wade's going to back up Penny.
So sayeth the guy who won the Cy Young Award mainly because he got traded from a bad AL team to a good NL team in midseason.
150:1's keep the magic going.
Dear, White Sox, Twins, and Blue Jays - the world is counting on you to pass the Red Sox. Do not let us down.
Thanks, the World.
Is that the opposite land argument?
---
Are Joe and Ned torturing us on purpose? Penny struggling off the DL I could have called with braille.
GD says 94-96
while we're ad it, he needs a hair cut too.
Vinnie mentioned one pitch & it was 93mph.
Goodness! Hopefully Wade can put a plug on the drain.
Shut him down for the rest of the year if he's not going to start.
for this situation...

Why is Kuo unavaiable?
Please.
I thought it was Lloyd, but I may be wrong.
way better?? show me some #'s & i'll believe you.
Troncoso ERA+: 97
Take it from me kid, it's Leon, not Lloyd.
http://www.baseball-reference.com/t/troncra01.shtml TronTron ERA+ 96
oh ok.
As long as the Dodgers dont get swept this weekend, the team is in good shape.
Proof!
-
Bleeder: Wade: W-L 2-1
- ERA 2.45
- K 42 vs Walks 14
WHIP: 1.01 BAA: .212
Troncoso's not even close.
Though I do like TronTron's upside, too.
if I may, what web site do you use for the (tm) LogicReader.
No? Sounds like it anyway.
Wade 4.08
Troncoso 2.86
BABIP
Wade .233
Troncoso .367
that is supprising considering how dominant he has been lately, albeit in very limited usage.
390 - What did he say?
Okay, if this game ends soon I may still be able to watch a DVD tonight. A productive evening all around.
I'm firmly in the Wade for rookie of the year camp (well, non-Kuroda, but still) though.
I just think Troncoso is really good too.
I meant "Dodger rookie of the year".
what's the scoop?
Think Wade can start?
He's probably just giving props to Jon for providing the impetus for the SI piece. Because, you know, Vin is the master of self promotion. :)
So, look for that in Simers' column tonight.
OMG!!!!!!
wow.
I mean, just, wow
MANNY! MANNY! MANNY!
You're up by 5, rest Broxton tonight.
Thanks,
KG
I.. he... wow.
Rick Neuheisel isn't the most environmentally conscious coach in the Pac 10.
.396/.488/.776
It was a helicopter that had a hybrid engine.
Remember that time just now when I posted from my iPhone while sitting in the "beach" part of right center field at Petco?
Hehehehehehe.
Maybe Torre wants to make sure Beimel's a type-A FA.
Also, I'm bracing for all the NYPost and Daily News stories about how Torre is in the playoffs and the Yankees aren't.
In honor of Andre, 3.5!
...games out. Nice.
Happy times.
Let's take a couple in Colorado.
I'd much rather go into the playoffs at ten games over .500 having played .750 ball in September than go in 20 games over having played .300 ball in the home stretch.
