Hey Nate, any thoughts on the new Okkervil River album? I just heard it for the first time today.
I bought it last week and I've been listening to it in the background while I do stuff and it hasn't really grabbed me like Black Sheep Boy did and it doesn't really have that amazing standout song like "Westfall" on their first full length, but its not bad. I love Okkervil River so my judgement is a bit clouded. They are playing in Phx and Tucson next Thursday and Friday and I'm def going to one of them...maybe both shows if I'm not too tired.
I will be parking in fron of my old apartment on Morton st. and buying some seeds from Evelyn at her store on Echo Park ave....EP for life!
I'll sell you my ticket for Monday.
You need to wire me $200.
Why are there so many more day games at Wrigley than elsewhere? I believe they were the last, and very late, to get lights, but now that they have them, why so many day games? Do they think that the tradition there fills as many seats as night games would? Are they right - do the weekday day games sell out?
On attendance, even if the Dodgers "sold out" all 6 games, their overall attendace would be slightly below the 2006 season and probably 120K below last year.
It will still be the third highest total tickets sold for the Dodgers but surely a disappointment.
I love Mates of State, especially live, hard to not to feel love when you see those two. I'm going to have to now check out Okkervil River, too.
Thee.
A summer's day.
Thou art lovely.
Thou art temperate.
Rough winds and darling buds?
You do the math.
It would be nice if we could crush their dreams early though. : )
Sounds like the promo to make people buy some limited tickets now to have access to playoff tickets worked out.
Besides The Office, there isn't much I am really looking forward to. I may give Gary Unmarried a chance; Jay Mohr's stand up is pretty good but the show could be really bad. I hope Chuck may have a good sophomore year, but other than that I will be waiting for February and Lost. I was hoping for good things from Entourage, but after two episodes I am left bored and unfulfilled.
Considering that most of the season the team was below .500 and before Manny and Blake the team was like watching paint dry and considering they raised ticket prices after last years disappointing season Fank & Co. should consider this year's attendence a huge success.
Anyway, shouldn't you be memorizing recipes?
Here's some ingredients for a classic.
chuck steak
smoked bacon
shallots
onion
large carrots
garlic
thyme
bay leaf
flour
red burgundy wine
mushrooms
olive oil
Salt and freshly ground pepper
Andrew does look like one of those people who would gain the trust of an athlete to administer his millions only to find he couldn't live on his percentage so he took it all, and ends up living the good life in Costa Rica while the athlete is on ESPN explaining why he made 132 Million in 5 years but is now living with his brother.
Limited mean 15-20 thousand per game.
The Padres are in Washington.
Plenty of good seats available. I bet Sam DC would even let you sleep on his couch if you wanted to make a weekend trip. Dirk Hayhurst vs. Colin Balester.
Will the loser get the #1 draft pick or will the Mariners keep up their losing ways?
Have not seen any new Heroes, don't plan to give it another try. I've heard that Hiro is at his best, but the rest is hit and miss. But that's just hearsay.
I also hear Chuck's first few episodes are their best, so I might give that show a third chance.
Marty should hang outside of LAT's class room.
Nah, LAT doesn't need our help.
Beef Bourguignon?

Eat Jones
They could trade Kemp/Ethier to fill the holes created from the disastrous trade for Manny and open up the spots so Jones and Pierre can be full time again.
The person who named Greenland is getting the last laugh. Under all the ice it turns it is indeed green. Nothing grows like one million year old thawed permafrost.
Any news on Scrubs on ABC?
I have tickets for 2 of the last 3 Mariner games and I hope the Steven Strausburg sweepstakes are still up for grabs.
Can the Griddle explain if the Pads-Nats playing each other helps or hurts the M's chances at #1?
Any opinion from the prospect experts if he is worth the hubbub?
Current standings
Sea 57-95

Padres & Nats playing one another simply means one is guaranteed at least two more losses this weekend. Although we probably knew that anyway.
50 - They finished production I believe and will come on at midseason.
So is it logical that the Mariners are ahead in the all important win column since they have an extra game to lose that the Pads and Nats can't?
Its less stressful thinking about this then the Dodgers staying ahead of the D-backs
In 2004 I won the fruit of the month club for a year.
Around 1995 a guest of mine won airline tickets to anywhere in the world. He sold them, he needed the money.
My only trip to Hawaii remains the time I went there to cover Canyon, Chaminade and Montclair Prep football games.
I was bummed when I saw what I won, but the reality is that I enjoyed getting that box every month.
No, I think we will have to sit in my seats until I see how attendance is and see if I can't score a better location. Easy for one, not so easy for four. Maybe they will like looking into the bullpen and learning how to swear in Spanish at the other teams leftfielder.
I would like to see an investigation into the randomness of these give aways.
Whew.

That reminds me of all the crazy fish they found after the Tsunamis.
The Black Rock?
The best part is he invited Lamar Woodley to help him at his camp and he does not even spell his name right.
1) the Yankees lose at home to Baltimore
2) the Blue Jays lose in Boston
3) the White Sox lose in Kansas City
I just spent six months in a leaky boat (ba ba ba)
Six months in a leaky boat (ba ba ba)
But E-40 is a rapper/businessman doing that to still be cool and relevant because he's actually in his 40's.
Kemp, CF
Ethier, RF
Ramirez, LF
Blake, 3B
Loney, 1B
DeWitt, 2B
Berroa, SS
Ardoin, C
Maddux, P
The current playoff matchups are always on the sidebar of the Griddle.
11 for 21 with 3 walks
.524/.583/.571/1.155
While, Martin has had little success against Zito so it's a good time to give him a game off. Also, Ardoin has a HR off Zito this season.
I should add that it does not mean I think Marshawn is dumb, just that athletics far outweighs academics (for football and basketball) at major colleges regardless of what the NCAA says.
Both.
In some tournaments, you play a scramble which is best ball
Scramble and best ball are not the same thing.
Nicely put, Paul. DePodesta, that is.
So Paul DePodesta for President?
I am down with that.
You down with D4P?
Yeah, you know me.
. . . finally.
Just what was so bad about your Dodgers gig?
In short, spending too much time away from home (seven months out of the year on the road), the realization winning is secondary for 99.9999 percent of the players and the weak moral fiber of many, many, many players, as well as other personnel around the game.
Yeesh.
I never want to correct LAT but Danny started on Sunday in Colorado and caught Maddux.
We used to play a game called either "Wolf" or "Pig", depending upon your preference.
I believe it.
I don't golf much, but my brother likes to play Animal quite often. I believe the last person to do a certain thing pays:
Camel - ball in sand
Alligator - ball in sand
I don't remember the other two. That's how often I play golf.
Daily News UCLA beat writer, that used to be a beat writer for the Dodgers.
Really? I've found that best ball/scramble usually moves a lot faster especially if you're a 20+ handicap...it isn't too tough to figure out whose ball to hit especially if there it is only 2x2. Makes golf a little more enjoyable I find as well because it takes a little of the stress knowing you have multiple shots fail/succeed. Just my 2 cents.
Dohn's love of crocs scares me.
So why is Willy Taveras batting leadoff then?
Shh....
68 stolen bases...!
He says as Taveras gets a leadoff single.
A rabbit is loose!
The last Dodger with 100 BB was Gary Sheffield with 101 in 2000.
Wow. Great stat...thanks..! Even though his power #'s and avg are down he's still one of the smartest hitters (let alone catchers) in the league..
And Hee-Seop Choi is no longer the Korean MLB single season hit king.
No runs in 14 innings so far and he faced the Twins in one of those games.
The replay will decide if it's going to be 7-0 Rays or 9-0 Rays.
