The Office Season Premiere Chat
2008-09-25 17:40
by Jon Weisman

I'm still figuring out how I'm going to handle TV chat this season - I planned to resolve this by October 1. In the meantime, here's an open thread dedicated to The Office season premiere and anything else televised you might to talk about.

Remember - no spoilers about anything that hasn't aired on the West Coast.

(oops meant to post this here, not in previous thread)

The Dodgers clinch, the Office has its season premiere, and now if my soccer team can win (IF! {knock on wood}) then it'll be a trifecta of happiness today.

Can't watch The Office live, though, so I'll catch up with this thread late. Hope it's a good 'un.

I'm the only one here who's seen this already, aren't I.

I saw it. Kinda surprising but I'm not all that impressed to be honest. It had it's moments though.

I thought it was great. If it had aired ten years ago, ASCII Dwight would have been my email signature.

I still have the last 15 minutes to watch (via Tivo) but wanted to say that at least for the first half I laughed out loud several times and pretty much adored the heck of it.

Glad to see a new episode.

Was the art student who flirted with Pam played by the same guy who plays the "head of the TV department" on Mad Men? Seems like it.

So much good stuff. My wife teared up at the rest stop scene. I love the Andy thing about wanting washboard abs before Angela saw him naked. Jan bragging about her candles being used at a vigil, and disappointed to find out the vigil was over. Dwight bitterly kicking the cheesecake at Stanley. And Ryan... This was a very cringeworthy episode.

A thumbs up. Instant laughs: Michael's goatee, Kelly's passing out, the beeper.

Instant Office Cringe Classic: Kevin's "outing" as a "non-special" person. Hysterical.

Was pleasantly surprised that they're apparently not continuing the "demise of Pam and Jim" theme that made the finale so painful. Though having said this, they'll probably start chiseling away at them next week...

"and Kevin" was one of the best lines I've heard on TV in a while, at least until Always Sunny topped it with "it's like a security camera...for bangin'"

I liked the episode quite a bit, but it wasn't amazing. I think the best part about the show is that most of the episodes are a 7 out of 10 for me with the occasional 8,9,or 10. But I can't really think of one that just stunk up the joint.

I am not including season 1 in that scale.

I also wish this applied to Heroes. Haven't decided about that one yet.

i thought it was an average episode with a few really funny moments. andy listing the nicknames of his acapella group was my favorite part. Pubey Lewis and the News is amazing. And Michael tearing up the tickets was a great, low key cringe.
