Blogging is evolving.
Ken Arneson, known to some of you as The Score Bard, known to others of you for his writing on All-Baseball.com, is developing a new software system called "Fairpole." We don't know for sure, but we think it just might be Thing, The Next Big.
It's in part for this reason that you're seeing a lot of transition at All-Baseball.com, and why today, myself and many of your favorite A-B writers are moving to a new site ...
Why Baseball Toaster? Well, for one thing, it lends itself to a fun little graphic. Beyond that, I'll let Arneson explain to you.
So anyway ... it's time to reset your bookmarks.
The new home for Dodger Thoughts is dodgerthoughts.baseballtoaster.com.
Shortly, I will update the re-direct for www.dodgerthoughts.com so that continues to be a shortcut to the site.
Dodger Thoughts will not change in philosophy. I'll still try to bring fun and insight to our Dodger conversation whenever I can - and shut up whenever I can't. However, I want to add that one of the principal goals of the Toaster will be to make your experience as reader even more engaging and interactive. The new site should make it easier and more rewarding for you to comment. (Internal sever errors begone!) And that's just the tip of the Icee, really. I think it's fair to say that the strength of the Dodger Thoughts readership has played a significant role in pushing us further in this direction, so pats on the back to all of you.
There will be other rich additions via the Fairpole software as well. We have a plateful of ideas. Ken is still developing Fairpole as we go, and he's cautioned us that there will be speed bumps. But it's gonna be great.
As I leave All-Baseball.com, I just want to say what an incredible pleasure it was to be a part of this great network. I view it as a complete success. I'm consoled by the fact that many of us are making the trip to the Toaster together, but I will miss working side by side with Jeff Shaw, Peter White, Rich Lederer, Bryan Smith, Mark McClusky, and Christian Ruzich. It's just been incredibly rewarding. That being said, we will continue to be colleagues, if not next-door neighbors, and I do hold out hope that at least some more of us will be in the same kitchen again someday.
So that's the scoop. Probably will take a day to get things settled in, so enjoy an open chat below on the Dodgers. And check out the other Toastmasters as well via the sidebar - not to mention our site-opening roundtable on The Griddle.
In short - get ready to toast!
Your pal,
Rich
The site reminds me of the Dodger
The site reminds me of the Dodger
Once again, and hopefully it will post everything this time!
Jerry,
The site reminds me of the Dodger
I've got a full day of sitting around at Staples tomorrow watching the Pac-10 basketball tournament.
I may go blind by the time the Stanford-WSU games starts around 8:30. But I'm determined to see it through!
By the way, Ken Arneson does plan on importing the comments from the All-Baseball site, so your important contributions won't be lost.
The open chat is off and running on the next entry below, folks ... jump in!
This new site is only here to use DT for its own nefarious purposes. Dodger Thoughts has always been about class, not fancy upgrades and new graphics.
Furthermore, I am offended by the way that All-Baseball was cast aside overnight without being given the farewell party it so clearly deserved. What happened to respect and loyalty?
My prediction: everybody who posts on this new forum will one day see his/her life come to an end. I can't say where, when, or how, but you can bet on it happening at some point.
Toaster, indeed.

NO! Say it ain't so!
Furthermore, I am offended by the way that All-Baseball was cast aside overnight without being given the farewell party it so clearly deserved. What happened to respect and loyalty?"
Icaros, are you not the one who defnds the new manangement and the new broadcast duet? I should think you are comfortable with overnight change.
Sure. Where can I fill out an application for LA Times sports columnist, maybe the Dodger Stadium Job Fair?
The new site is very nice, but I agree with others: paint it Blue.
Had a really weird coincidence today. Yesterday, went to Dodger Stadium to pay for my tickets and sitting in the parking space closest to the Office was a black Porsche Cyanne Turbo with Mass. plates. This morning when getting on the Santa Monica Freeway East, the car in front of me was a Porsche Cyanne turbo with Mass. plates. At the wheel: Ms. McCourt. Given his affection for Jamie, I'm guessing Simmers would have some fun with the Mass. plates issue. . .
I agree, Jim. But why do you think Jaime McCourt would be obsessed with a random fan like LAT?
Rich lady like her...it just doesn't make much sense.
Maybe Ms McCourt found out that LAT was the 1st fan to purchase Laker price Dodgers seats and was looking to borrow money.
Okay Molokai, I've done my Googling to find out who Scott Long is, and the best I can come up with is a former contestant on Big Brother. I've really never watched that show before, so pardon my ignorance.
Is this who you meant? If it is, I'm flattered by the fact that the guy eventually appeared in Playgirl, though it seems he was less than popular with his fellow roommates.
The other Scott Long I found is some obscure softy musician, which wouldn't make a lot of sense.
Please sir, enlighten me.
As for my Laker priced seats, I count myself among the lucky, my seats only went up from $35 to $40. In addition to all the other nickel and diming, they now force season ticket holders to purchase the freeway series and charge for the Stadium Club passes ($10 per game). In an earlier post I think Jon indicated that the new seats cost about $15M and should generate $15M in revenue. I don't think that included the increase in existing seat prices. I'll bet they are making huge profit on those increases. From what I have heard from some other season ticket holders, the increases have been dramatic. One friend saw his seats go from $35 to $60. My Office saw their seats go from $35 to $50. I understand Dugout Club seats are north of $300.
As for my stalking Jamie. . .well all that money does make her more attractive.
I guess I've given myself away as the fan who only reads blogs specifically concerned with the Dodgers.
I think I could still appear in Playgirl, though, at least for a few more years (laugh).

My price stayed the same but I'm on the cheap buy 2 get 2 free plan. I was actually shocked that they kept the plan in place. Thinking this will be the last year.
What did the season ticket holders think of the letter from Mr. Depodesta yesterday?
I wasn't.
I actually tried to email you with the problems last night, but unfortunately that wouldn't even work, and it isn't my computer because everybody else I was emailing last night worked fine.
In fact, I don't know if this is going to go thru.
It seemed when I used quotation marks, that's when my part of the message was cut off, and when I tried to utilize the edit, it kept on posting.
Sorry for the problems if its on my end.
My original point was that the site looks great, and that it reminds me of the Dodger away uniforms--the colors.
I'll try to post this now. Hope it works.
"As for my stalking Jamie. . .well all that money does make her more attractive."
LAT,
I couldn't agree more! Especially if she's living seperately from Frank & the kids in the other mansion!
I have some friends who did the buy two get two. They sold the good games--opening day and Yankees and nearly paid for the season. On the nights they did go they just moved to better seats. Its a pretty good deal. Makes me feel a little stupid spending $40 per seat.
I've got 2 other partners cause no way can I make 81 games and one guy lives in Palm Springs and only came on board for the Yankee games. I think it was the only game he went to, otherwise he gave the tickets away to clients.
