Kurt Ainsworth and Ramon Martinez, come on down!

No, not our old friend Ramon. Different Ramon.

I don't predict either Ainsworth or Martinez will make it past the Showcase Showdown.

No Robby Thompson? How about Johnnie LeMaster?

If Ainsworth can be healthy, he could be very useful. He was a pretty good pitcher before injuries prevented him from pitching over the last 3 seasons. Plus he's only 27. Of course, he needs to figure out how to be healthy

Hopefully Martinez is nothing more than Schrager/Nakamura's replacement

It's only a matter of time before Hal Lanier or Andre Rodgers get a call.

Although Rodgers isn't all that good anymore. You know, being dead and all.

I also wonder if teams are inviting a few more players to spring training to fill in for guys who are going ot be in the WBC.

Thank Choi martinez's contract isn't guaranteed, that would have been a waste of money. I like the Ainsworth signing though, this could be Chris Carpenteresque with a guy trying to resurrect a once promising career after a rash of injuries.

While we're at it, I'm not sold on Dioner this year, what's Kurt Manwaring doing these days?

Johnnie LeMaster homered in the very first MLB game I ever attended, at The Stick in 1983.

With expansion and the dilution of pitching, being dead isn't the drawback it used to be. We signed Scott Erickson last year, didn't we?

Slightly OT, but I will be in Florida with the Dodgers, too. Of course, I wasn't invited so much as I will pay for the privilege. Will anyone else be visiting Vero Beach?

My wife and I go every year for a few games, since it is within driving distance. We are actually planning on moving to the Vero area this spring. Maybe I can get a job on the grounds crew.

9 - Maybe you can get a job as backup shortstop.

Fantastically off-topic, but a guy at work just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq and shared some photos with us, including many interesting ones of the Iraqi children. I thought this crowd might particularly enjoy seeing this one: http://tinyurl.com/9bepx

Jon, more likely they'd hire me as a backstop rather than a shortstop. My range isn't what it once was now that I'm 57 (wasn't that good when I was 17 for that matter).

11-The kid looks a bit like Cesar Izturis.

I hope that's an officially licensed Dodgers cap!

Kobe is 18-for-19 on free throws with 18 minutes to go in the game.

4 Last year, we had 18 NRIs. This year, we're at 15. We're now at:

OF: Meadows, Weber, Kemp
IF: Truby, Martinez, Abreu
C: Bellorin, Borders
P: Wunsch, Beimel, Sele, Billingsley, Orenduff, Stults, Ainsworth

Notice the lack of 1Bs. Also remember Choi, Nomar, and Saenz will be in the WBC. Looks like Loney, Kent, and Guzman could get a lot of 1B time this spring

Panamanian papers say Saenz isn't going to play in the WBC. He doesn't get along with the Panamanian baseball federation president.

Ned Coletti is going after all his old prospects/cronies. That must be discouraging.

Not to start a larger conversation, but didn't DePodesta do the same thing to some extent with guys like Edwards, Rose, Flores, Grabowski and Myrow?
