I had no idea they gave an Emmy for outstanding casting.

Good news: Gregory Itzin and Jean Smart were both nominated for their roles as the Prez and First Lady (respectively) in "24".

Bad news: Not 1 single nomination for "The Shield".

Next year on "24" everything will turn out be 5 minutes away in Beijing instead of being 5 minues away from CTU headquaters in L.A.

My girlfriend did not understand why I would like the Chloe character. I told her that she was a computer nerd's dream. Right down to the inability to relate to other humans correctly.

Chloe rocks!

Socially-inept but wicked smart!

I know nothing about this stuff.

"24" is a show that involves Kiefer Sutherland shooting many people and lots of explosions and an incredibly complicated plot that when you examine it closely, makes absolutely no sense.

I remember watching it once (thought it was pretty brilliant) but never really kept on watching. I heard Lost is wickedly smart.

Perhaps someone in the business can explain this to me (cough....Jon...cough), but why are individual episodes selected for so many of the categories (e.g. Outstanding Achievement in Hairstyling)? Did they really do a better job combing an actor's hair in one episode than in another?

I'm not Jon, but I believe that the producers of each show along with the principals involved agree to send in certain episodes for consideration.

I don't know if hairstylists just vote for hairstylists however.

A good friend of mine write for the Colbert Report. She got nominated, so I'm rooting for her.

10 is basically correct. In theory (and in some categories, in practice) you're not going to have the same person perform the duties, and the nominations ultimately go to individuals.

Bob and Jon - Thanks for the info.

I thought this was the worst season of 24 by far. I swear the show was nominated just because they made the president out to be the bad guy.

I watch "24" for the jokes and the plot holes, so I had a blast.

No nominations for "Veronica Mars" or "Gilmore Girls". Not adult enough.

Blythe Danner got nominated for "Huff" which I've actually watched two seasons worth on Showtime and despised the whole time and yet kept watching. I cancelled Showtime to prevent me from ever watching it again. It's a codependency thing.

16 I had the same problem with Huff. Found it tedious and depressing, and yet I watched and watched. Thankfully, Showtime gave it the axe.

There could be no finer send off for AD than winning for best comedy. Mitch Hurwitz's speech alone would be worth it.
