Introducing Screen Jam
2006-09-18 11:06
by Jon Weisman

So, I am somewhat carefully, somewhat carelessly expanding into new territory with a site devoted to entertainment and some non-Dodger Thoughts: Screen Jam.

Please look at it simultaneously as a work in progress and a place to have some fun. I'm launching the site much as I launched Dodger Thoughts - without a clear intention of what I want it to be - but hope that the ride will be enjoyable.

Dodger Thoughts remains my first priority, but readers of the site will probably understand the use of having this second outlet.

Not being a huge non-news/sports TV watcher, my opinions will be few and far between, but I'll read for edumacational purposes.

Are you harboring fears of Dodger failure? What else could cause you to launch a new site at this point of the season? ;)

1 - I would look at this more as a delayed midseason launch.

Jon Weisman makes a subtle yet effective attempt to dominate every aspect of my internetting.

First the Dodgers, now TV/entertainment. Go ahead, Jon. Start up a book site.

2 Whew! DzzrtRat, are you listening? That's PR-speak if I ever heard it!

Better than Lost, though. The schedule now appears to be six weeks of new shows, then three months off, then the rest of the season's new episodes will run with no breaks.

Jon - I am sure you are heading this way for Thursday but why are guys attracted to girls like Pam aside from their attractiveness.

I tend to believe it is the approachable factor but unfortunately you end up a lot with that friend designation which tends to be a bummer.

5- I think part of it is that she's engaged to the lummox. Good looking women with low standards are the best of all possible sorts. Then there's the whole, "a mind at ease with all below/ a heart whose love is innocent!" thing, which is beautiful.

To me, its like the Mary Ann vs. Ginger debate, something about high maintenance, etc.

Sometimes being just plain nice is attractive too.

Why wouldn't anyone be attracted to Pam, other than her Roy blind spot?

7- You're not saying Pam's high maintenance, are you? Are you saying that some men go looking for high maintenance women? I've always thought of that as more of a trade-off, than a marketable feature.

6 Andrew hit it on the head. Pam is "I'm attractive and funny, but I don't know it" gal. Having invested deeply in that particular talent pool, it's just...well, it's just great.

Thank you, oblivious cute girl. You'll always be welcome at the Brock home.

No, no, I do find Pam attractive and I agree with Greg but my original question is why do we find these girls so irresistible, a few others that come to mind:
Christa Miller, also drinks beer, a plus(Drew Carey, Scrubs), Sabrina Lloyd (Sportsnight), Maura Tierney (NewsRadio).

11 - I still don't understand the question. You're naming attractive women with great personalities and asking why we like them? It's like asking whether I'd rather be handed $100,000 or have a safe dropped on my head.

12 Why can't you want both?
