PS: Congratulations to Jon and Mrs. Jon
Mazzeltov!
Congrats to you both, Jon.
Let's take bets: who gets a day off first, Martin or LuGo?
i mean this in a good way Cannon but for an older guy you look really young.
And those jeans don't make you look fat either.
russell martin catching again should'nt it be liberthals turn to catch? grady is pushing russ again and early in the season.
And "No", your gray hairs don't bother me
Maybe Russ could pick up a third baseman's glove.
And...congratulations Jon.
"My neck is sore," he said. "It feels like whiplash."
Well that explains that, I guess.
Congrats, Jon! May the Dodgers give you an anniversary victory today.
i walked 3 but stroke out 17 we scored 15 runs. the league i'm playing in right now isn't all that good.
I'm going to party like it's 1965!
It looks like Furcal's limping a little when he runs - or is he just slightly favoring the other foot still? He's running pretty fast, I'll say that.

Yikes, I hope no one in the East Bay up here is planning on driving anywhere anytime soon.

Again, somebody tell me if that's good.
I just hope that alcohol was not a factor in his death.
It's just like being inside the park!
Engineers said the green steel underbelly of the I-580 overpass and the bolts holding the roadway together began to melt and bend due to the intense heat -- and that movement pulled the roadbed off its supports.
wow.
Steve Garvey?
I'm not saying this to criticize KP, since what he said is something others frequently say, but I don't get why this would be something to hope for. Dead is dead, and it's horrible for his family and friends no matter what the cause.
Maybe I'm just too literal minded. I could see an alcohol industry representative sincerely hoping that his product wasn't going to be implicated. Conversely, if it turns out to have been a factor, I suppose the tragedy could influence someone not to drink and drive, and that might be a good thing.
I hope: He didn't know what hit him, he didn't suffer, and that his final thoughts were happy ones. Other than that, it's just devastating to see a young person taken long before his or her time. I hope everyone else who's heard this sad story is a little more careful today.
It's all Greek to me. Is 67 mph "good"...?
very well.
If it weren't for Enhanced Gameday, what would we have done before.
I happening to be using a computer with a boatload of RAM so that's why I'm using it.
I'll be back...
The Timmernator...?
Castro to Deshields to Karros.
The runners were Marquis Grissom and Mark Lemke.
I love when Wells throws those softball high change ups. Just one more, baby!

Tim Wallach saved the season when Mike Blowers went down with a knee injury!
& that includes Penny! wow.
It was a line-drive in the box score....
Wonder when Vin or Charlie will give DT a shout-out?
Pitcher Change: Yhency Brazoban replaces D. J. Houlton.
Wladimir Balentien grounds out, shortstop Sergio Garcia to first baseman Mitch Jones.
Bryan LaHair strikes out swinging, catcher Kelly Stinnett to first baseman Mitch Jones.
Mike Morse doubles (5) on a line drive to right fielder James Loney.
Jeff Clement strikes out swinging.
Jon has mentioned that Charlie Steiner reads Dodgers Thoughts. or has read DT.
Old amigo Oscar Robles sighted...
Not a high pitch count but he looked like he was getting tired. Drat.
I heard it at least once.
Fine by me.
17 points
23 Assists
3 Turnovers
114 Another reason they should've kept Ross around.
So when does the Yhency for Seanez countdown begin? Or has it already?
Heath Bell looked like a good reliever in that inning.
Tsao looks good but Meloan would look better.
Over a decade.
27 points
21 rebounds
Yeah, you say that in hindsight...
Jordan Farmar had a ridiculous line today too.

He's gotten 'schooled' by Nash this series and should receive an A+ for his effort.
Someone tell me something interesting and positive about him like, "There wasn't any electricity or running water in the Beimel household when Joe was growing up. He drank from the puddles in the street after it rained."
About Meloan I saw him against the Angels and he threw one of the best curveballs I´ve ever seen.

I'd keep Tsao & Meloan & bye bye Seanez.
Not to mention a pFX of 14".
I thought Broxton had been pFXing in the 10-12 range this season. What's up with that?

But he's 29 yrs old, so maybe thats why they let him go.
hmmm...
Yes.
Or Heath Bar, for that matter.
If he doesn't BRK something first.
My psychic powers are intact.
The boys get a break on that collision.
Go Russell!
I think Saito needs to come in.
Its do or die, gotta pitch your best guy.
Merlin the magician had no tricks up his sleeve unfortunately

Stop stealing my act!
But Tsao did make a good pitch to Giles to K him.

Charlie Brown quote.
[200] it was a she, wearing sunglasses in the stands and sitting with some dodger fans.
It appears to be gameday's indecipherable jargon for the rise or sink on a pitch.
"In an official order to barbershops, they have been warned to avoid using Western hair styles and doing men's eyebrows."
I knew it. Their hatred is based on jealousy of our eyebrows.
Blockhead.
he only topped out at 91 mph today, while other days he tops out at 95,96 mph the jury is still out on him i guess, injury passed etcetera
I like the pFX data because it is almost, but not quite, entirely useless for a person following a baseball game.
No, never mind, it is entirely useless.
Cameron should be scored upon.
"You are tempting fate the more you face the top of the Dodgers lineup, it is by far the scariest part of the lineup."
Really?
[210] hey man, just because i don't use gameday doesn't make me a sap!
Hopefully Saenz can get a hit against the RHP.
Pitching Seanez before Saito in sudden death is just asking to lose the game.
::points to empty batters box::
don't jinx us, he's doing good so far.
Boooo!!!!!!
Matt Vasgersian is a bogeyman nonpareil!
Hope he's just bruised there...
They are really letting Cameron hang himself out there.
i think Hoffman's pitched 3 or 4 days straight. The Padres really played poorly there, we should have scored at least 1. sigh.

Hudler and Harrelson aren't bogeymen.
I'm not even quite sure what it means. In the 70s people would say they had "the blahs," and I think it's somewhat like that. Anyone know?
Its not Justin Hampson a LHP.
Where did you first hear it?
An interjection used to imply indifference towards a subject; "a verbal shrug". This particular interjection has somehow become quite popular among teens, the reason for this popularity is a mystery. Other popular interjections are "bleh", "dah", and "mih". Usu. pronounced shortly, without eye contact or body movement.
"You wanna go to the mall?"
"Meh, I have nothing to do for the rest of the day..." etc.
Dodgers need a reserve catcher who can play, preferrably a LHB
Yeah, poor Mike. He last had an at bat, what, 7 years ago?
Well, we had "heavy" back in the day. That word meant almost anything, depending on the inflection.
"Hey, I got into Berkeley."
"Heavy, man."
"But I can't afford to go."
"Heavy, man."
Can the Dodgers call up some peeps from the minors to play later this game, if necessary? If the Padres can play with 4 outfielders, they should be able to do that.
Sorry, I watched too much NFL draft this weekend.
He's an iron man.
Only had 2 starts off all year.
"Telegraph Avenue was blocked off to traffic because some street people opened up the fire hydrants."
"Heavy."
Another great play by Lucille II. Nomar could stand to be a little taller, they got a break on his foot being an inch off the bag there.
The Pads relief pitching's had the same result, but more luck their way.
the ump not being angled correctly also helps.
Lousy cable company.

Why can't you see it?
Ethier needs to hit a HR here.
and "no smoking sign on a cigarette break" might count, but nobody really gets breaks specifically for smoking. they're just normal work breaks during which smokers happen to light up.
Comcast matched the offer of DirectTV, but they do not own my cable company.
He has been taking a firmer pass at the ball in the last 7-10 days, fewer defensive swings.

another leadoff hitter. i'm not particularly sanguine, however.
Yes it goes on and on my friends
We started watchin it not knowing what it was
And we'll continue watchin it forever just because
It is the game that doesn't end. . .
Although, the Pads being 2-30 throwing out guys isnt a big risk
They may have just meant that he actually has a stomach.
Dodgers relief pitchers have retired 29 of 31 batters. Simply amazing.
But Nomar hacked at a 2-0 pitch that should have been ball three, then hit into the DP.
Rally started!
He's kicking it in Santa Maria.

One more guy to go.
that's what a 17 inning game dose to you i guess.
Padres lost some tough ones this week!
And I think either Nomar or Kent will get tomorrow off too.
and russ martin catches all 17 innings.

The bullpen threw 15 shutout innings, but gave up 9 hits and 4 walks. But they struck out 9 too.
Even more impressively, the Dodgers played 23 innings and didn't draw a single walk.
Sorry, 22 innings.
vr, Xei
17 innings...Wow. No thanks.
Someone asked about Steiner earlier. I don't know how often he reads Dodger Thoughts, but at Opening Day 2006, he introduced himself to me after he heard who I was and said he enjoyed the site.

Seeing Matt Barnes play so much in the NBA is really freaky.
vr, Xei
Wait: there are other numbers to look at...?
His VORP is currently -0.5. Woohoo.
Ned must like...nay, love, what he sees.
The LA Times is running a poll today on who is the best second baseman in LA Dodger history.
First on the list: Delino DeShields.
Sigh...
The leader so far is Davey Lopes at 51.9%.
I left in the 15th to catch a film screening and event so I didn't know what happened until now. Whoopee! Nice to hear that Bills pitched peachy. Seems like he may be back on track, learning some things.
In other news, I saw George Lucas, Robin Williams and John Lasseter tonight. That was great. I am too tired to write above a 5th grade level now, so... night. Here's to a shorter victory tomorrow.
(10 innings and 1 hit! Wow.)

Lieberthal was scheduled to catch Tuesday, although Little might reconsider and rest Martin today. <<<

Interesting that Dodgers are in first place without a power hitter in sight and the Yanks are in last place and AROD is having an all time best super human power month.
Didn't get to watch the last, well, half of the game, but FSNPT reran it. I checked the box score, twice, during the 17th to make sure I'd read it right. Clark really did knock in a run, and Billz really did strike out the side (and then some; that curveball was a strike).
there gonna have to shackle him but it's doable
New post up top.
More champagne!
